CARE HOME RAISES £1,000 FOR ALZHEIMER’S SUFFERERS (October 8, 2007)

Staff and residents at an Alford Care Home have raised over £1,000 for the Alzheimer’s Society.

A sponsored ‘Memory Walk’ was staged on National Alzheimer’s Awareness Day (Sunday 23rd September) with 18 care staff and residents of Sandpiper Care Home strolling from the Home on South Street to the Manor House.

The walk was one of 250 to take place across the country to raise awareness of the disease.

“Everyone who took part in the walk had a very enjoyable time and we’re amazed with the amount of sponsorship money we’ve been able to raise,” said Sonia Little, Manager of Sandpiper Care Home. “All of the money raised from the Walk will be donated to the Alzheimer’s Society. I would also like to thank those people from Louth’s Alzheimer’s Society who gave up their free time to help out.”

The money raised from the Sandpiper Memory Walk and others nationwide will be used by the the Alzheimer’s Society to provide care services, information and research funding for a condition that will affect nearly a million of us in less than 20 years.
